Yatzer: Azzedine Alaïa Home Visit
Recently, Yatzer took an inside look at the home of popular Tunisian couture designer Azzedine Alaia. The loft, which is located on the exclusive Rue de Moussy in the Marais district of Paris, is a 300-sqm space in a 17th-century building. For his cause, Alaia converted the space into three smaller apartments for a boutique experience, such as to make the inhabitants of the area get a feel of the true Parisian lifestyle by giving each space its own doorway and private entrance. While the majority of the space seems relatively monochromatic, the kitchen is livened by vibrant ’60s-inspired colors on the furniture and cabinets. As with his collections, Azzedine Alaia has given exceptional thought to the details, paying close attention to the finishing materials and shapes of the furniture to create a modern yet nostalgic looking space. The furniture & lighting that appear throughout the interiors are favorites of the designer and include Jean Prouve, Marc Newson, Arne Jacobsen, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Paulin and Andre Sornay.
